Procrastination!!! A Slow Infesting Pest

What is procrastination? What causes one to procrastinate? Why do we need to shun the very act of procrastinating? How do we get rid of procrastination before it becomes an addiction? Do you know procrastination like alcohol & hard drugs can be an addiction?

To answer the unanswered questions;

What is procrastination? Procrastination according to the dictionary is the act of postponing, delaying or putting off, especially habitually or intentionally.

What causes one to procrastinate? Time! Time is the major thing we do not have. But there are a thousand and one others out there that have no problem with time. They've gotten the time, but if you ask them, they'll tell you they do not have time. Do you know why? Because they spent their time on things that are not worthwhile whist they postpone things that are worthwhile. Laziness can be a reason to procrastinate. A lazy student will always postpone reading his books until the invasion of examination. Due to lack of preparation, procrastination being the major reason, he ended up failing.

Why do we need to a avoid or control procrastination? Procrastination has many negative impacts in our lives. It hinders success; it hinders one from succeeding. You can not reach a goal you have set as a result of procrastinating. They destroy our plans & shatter our dreams

How do we cure the Infesting disease named "Procrastination"? It's simple, think about it effects on you and get things done immediately. Make a timetable if possible, make a goal, have a reason to stop procrastinating and lastly put God first in everything you do. For there can be nothing better than prayer. You'll agree. A very good friend of mine will say, "Procrastination is a devil". I say, "Procrastination is a Pest that kills gradually".
Don't be a procrastinator for before you knew it, you discover you are failing in almost every aspect of life. Procrastination hinders success. I strongly advise you do not delay things. Get things done, do it now or never!

Like a very known poem I read when I was in Primary One, it goes thus;
